Royal Mail scams: Fake unpaid shipping fee message targets public This article is old - Published: Tuesday, Mar 30th, 2021 The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) says it has received evidence of a Royal Mail text scam which is currently doing the rounds. Members of the public received texts supposedly from Royal Mail; the text arrives out of the blue and claims that "your Royal Mail parcel is awaiting delivery. A number of posts on Facebook have shared images of text messages, purporting to be from the Royal Mail, which they say may be a scam. The text states: "Royal Mail: your package has a £2.99 shipping fee, to pay this now visit." Royal Mail scams: Fake unpaid shipping fee message targets public. The messages do appear to be scams or hoaxes. The messages are largely similar in their wording, they say a parcel addressed to the recipient requires a small fee in order to be delivered and directs them to a website in order to do so.
